We really would like to encourage you to attend the club meetings in order to give your input back to the members. We have monthly meetings held on the first Thursday of every month at The Crown, 76 Bond St, Macclesfield, SK11 6QS. Our meetings are small and friendly affairs with some great banter. All members are welcome.

Under 9p a day top fishing

It is that time of year again for all our members to renew their membership. Waltonians still offers great value to all our members. Our average membership is still only just over £30 for the year that means fishing less then 9p per day. We can safely say that no commercial fishery or most other clubs can offer that kind of value for money. See the new membership fees here and download your joining form today.

2007 is a record year for Waltonians

Congratulations to all our 2007 members for creating a record year for the club. Not only did we see record numbers of members fishing our waters this year but also some fantastic catches as well. Best catch went to Mark Jones the club chairman with a haul of 58 bream in 5hrs to well over 200lb of fish. The ‘top rods’ for Carp went to Sam Dicken and Neil Furnivall. These two accounted for 20+ gallery fish between them and probably a fair few that didn’t make it. Well done to everyone, it has been brilliant to see over 80+ fish featured on the club website gallery.

CLUB NEWS…

It has been another good year for the club, with a lot of new members joining the club. The new web site is up and running now keeping new and old members up to date with reports, what’s going on around the waters, info on the club match’s and working parties etc. You can visit us at www.waltonians.co.uk. Also for members that don’t know the club stocked four new 20Ib carp into Teggs Nose in Jan of this year.

WHAT’S GOING ON?…

The club has been doing quite a lot of work on Herons Pool in the closed season, replacing old stages and removing snags. Work will continue throughout the season, making this a very nice water to fish. Remember this water can be night fished with a night permit at a cost of £5.00. Why not come along to a club meeting at the Oxfford Pub on Oxfford Road in Macclesfield. The meeting is held on the first Thursday of every month at 8pm, all members new and old are very welcome.

CATCH REPORTS…

The new carp have settled into Teggs Nose with all four fish having gained weight. The biggest being the fish known as ‘THE PIG’ which has been out at 25.08 lbs this fish was stocked at 22.06lbs in January of this year and with the winter feeding program having being carried out the original fish have been putting weight on too. With 3 original 20’s being caught so far this year, and Bream over 6lbs being caught on a regular basis. Can members who catch any Carp over 16lb and Bream over 6lb please contact Steve The Head Bailiff with details of their catch and pictures where possible. BALIFFS REPORT…

As you may have noticed we have removed the rubbish bins from Teggs Nose because of the amount of rubbish being left at the water, so can I please ask all members to take all rubbish home with you including cigarette ends and not to bring any tins on to any club waters with them. Also can I remind members to have there permit with them, filled in and a picture of themselves inside at all times. Any member fishing for carp to always have a large landing net and unhooking mat with them when fishing.

As from July of this year we will be selling season tickets for the last 6 months of the season without a joining fee and extending the yearly re-joining date to the first week of February.

Teggs Nose Catch Reports in CARP-TALK

Head Bailiff Steve Hicks has successful negotiated with CARP-TALK to publish Catch reports in their weekly magazine. So if you have caught a fish over 16lb and have a good photo! Warning NO Night Fishing!

We have reason to believe that some anglers have been night fishing up at Teggs Nose Reservoir. This is strictly against club rules as in forced by United Utilities, therefore all our bailiffs are making regular day and night checks of the water to ensure that this does not happen.

Any member found night fishing will receive a life ban from the club and may risk prosecution. The choice is yours, if you suspect an angler of night fishing or see any one who is please call Steve Hicks (Head Baliff) on 07881 818486.

New site launch!

Yes you are not seeing a mirage you are looking at the new site finally up and running.

With the new website upgrade has come several new improvements and features:

A new gallery for all your catches, landscape and general fishing shots - the gallery was a popular feature from the old site but was difficult to update this one is driven from our own photo library so is very quick for us to get your pictures on there, so send them in now to gallery@waltonians.co.uk

Regular news - the latest news bulletins will be post directly to the homepage of the site, the club news will now be kept up to date by several members of the club providing you with the very latest nes from our meeting minutes through to catch reports.

The Waltonians Blog - for those who are not sure what a blog is? it is a web log of the club. The blog will form a central part of the club site and is driven by the members for the members. The blog will provide many different dicussion topics and articles for the members to comment on. This feedback will be a viatal link to you the member to have your say.

Interactive maps - All our water information now has linked interactive Google maps giving you direct instructions on how to get to the water.

Working Party

Our next working party will be held at Herons Pool on Sunday 11th March. We ask all our members to try and spare a little of their time to help out, everyone is welcome. The working pary will commense at 10:00am and will last for a few hours depending on the number of helpers.

Record bream catch

Waltonians chairman Mark Jones has waited a long time to see the bream really show in Teggs Nose. In late 2006 Mark just could not stop landing bream one after another if fact in just 5 hours he landed 58 fish ranging from 3lb to 6lb with a total weight of well over 200lb.

Mark said “It was quite first thing in the morning, not even a bit I pulled in an took a brief walk up the bank to say hello to a few people thinking it was going to be a long day then headed back to the swim for one last go straight away a classic slow steady drop of the float saw the first fish and then another and another they just did not stop for 5 hrs. Unfortunately I had to cut short the session to get home else I know the tally would have been even greater, what a day!”

New carp stock

Yes the rumors that you may have been hearing are true, we have stocked a fresh head of carp into Teggs Nose Reservoir.

On Monday Janurary 8th four new Mark Simmons carp where stocked. All the fish where Mirror carp at 21lb +. We hope to see some significant growth from these fish, we will be supplimenting the food supply over the colder months to encourage the fish as much as possible.
